The South Luangwa Valley is famed for its dramatic scenery and abundant wildlife. The valley is home to a remarkable variety of species, from majestic elephants and graceful antelopes to elusive leopards and vibrant birdlife to name just a few. Each day in the valley brings new photographic opportunities, as the ever-changing light and diverse habitats provide endless inspiration.

A Moment to Remember

One of my most unforgettable experiences, during my recent month long safari this June, was capturing this portrait of a large, young male lion walking within reach of our Land Rover. The intensity in his eyes and his sheer proximity made it a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The guides’ skill in reading the lion’s behavior and ensuring our safety while allowing such a close encounter was truly remarkable.

Beyond the Lens

While the photographic opportunities are astounding, what makes South Luangwa and The Bushcamp Company truly special is the deep connection to nature and the authentic bush experience. Every game drive, and walking safari is a chance to immerse yourself in the wild, to feel the pulse of Africa, and to create memories that go far beyond the images captured on camera.

(Each June colleagues Sue Flood, Cindy Miller-Hopkins and I lead small group, invitation only, photograhic safari's from Mfuwe Lodge and deeper into the National Park at their stunning bushcamps)
