Tinged with more than a little sadness, I received my acceptance email on the same day as Don's passing, though I was privileged to have spent September with him, and his wife Joan, travelling through the Northwest Passage - a long held wish for Don after two previous attempts. A humble man with a razor sharp wit and a legacy second to none.
The Explorer's Club is an extraordinary family, which, over the past 118 years, has dedicated itself to the advancement of field research, scientific exploration, resource conservation, and the idea that it is vital to preserve the instinct to explore. Its aim, to inspire exploration and the protection of wild places. while sustaining a spirit of fellowship among explorers and the scientific community.
I'll see you where we lose sight of the shore...
